Baby Showers and Baby Gear!

We have now surpassed the 36 week mark which means I will be allowed to deliver whenever PIME decides to make his or her appearance. Wow! Luckily I am feeling more ready and we have pretty much all the basics now.

I had my second baby shower thrown by Rachel and Kyla Saturday. I was so excited and am so glad that I still feel pretty good so I could enjoy the party. I actually remembered to take a couple pictures at this one (I am bummed I forgot at the other shower). This was a rubber duck themed Tea Party which turned out really cute.

After the shower I spent a few hours putting things away and organizing the room a little more and Jesse has fun playing with all the new stuff. We still haven't really decorated so I am really excited for my mom to put the finishing touches on the farm animal quilt so I can hang it up on the wall.

Jesse and I have been very good and productive lately getting ready for PIME. We got the pack and play assembled last week and Jesse installed the car seat yesterday. I still haven't packed by bag but I did get a birth plan written up to take to my next appointment.

As I mentioned I had my other shower a few weeks ago which was also such a great time. It was Bee themed which was another super cute idea. I am so impressed with my friends for coming up with such great neutral themes (as I am sure it would be much easier to plan a baby boy or baby girl party). My favorite part was all the old wives tales to guess the sex of the baby. Old wives tale wise this baby is overwhelmingly a boy - pretty much all the "tests" predicted boy with the exception of the Chinese calender.

We also kept up our tradition of attending the Alpha Phi Paint Denver Red Event that night. Both of our parents joined us again this year. It has become a very fun tradition.

As for me I am still doing pretty good. The pregnancy is starting to wear on me a bit now but compared to what a lot of women have to deal with I still feel very fortunate :). The swelling is really the worst I am dealing with besides the normal exhaustion. However, the swelling has gotten quite annoying. My poor ankles and legs in general are huge and the little swelling in my hands/wrists has caused pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome (it's about as fun as it sounds). Needless to say, I am definitely looking forward to losing the pregnancy symptoms although I still think part of me will miss having PIME with me all the time.

PIME still moves a lot but definitely does more squirming now and very little kicking. Poor baby is out of room . . .

Maternity Photos and Weeks 32 and 33

Over the holidays I finally finished Jesse's 4th anniversary present (a year and a half after giving it to him). I is a cross stitch of this Irish Blessing that his whole family has a wall hanging of. I finally got a framed and we got it hung up a couple weeks ago - I think it turned out really well and and am so happy to have it done :)

I have my first (of two) baby showers this afternoon and am so excited! I am actually starting to feel more ready by the day and am really looking forward to actually getting to meet the baby.

I had a maternity photo session yesterday which was a lot of fun. I really like professional maternity photos and think it is such a cool way to celebrate such and amazing experience. I really liked the photographer and she will be doing infant photos (when the baby is about 1 week old) too. They should be posted online in about two week and will be up again after the infant session.

I finally got around to taking pictures of the
"finished" nursery. The walls are painted and the furniture is arranged pretty much how we want it but we still haven't really decorated much. We have also done nothing (not really even thought about) curtains for the windows. We do plan to replace the ugly ceiling light (which isn't visible in either picture) with a ceiling fan. I want to get stencils (or have someone more artistic than me or Jesse) paint animals on the fan blades.

We managed to get the room arranged so that the futon still fits which I was very happy about. I like knowing we still have and "extra bed" for people to sleep in. I am not sure the glider will fit with the futon in the room (we haven't tried) but I really like it in the living room right now so I don't think that would be entirely bad :)

I still think I have had a pretty easy go of the whole pregnancy experience. I felt a little sick all day Thursday but felt better Friday and fine today. My poor stomach is definitely out of space - I can eat so little before I feel uncomfortably full (which is especially pathetic for those who know how little I normally eat). I also have to be very careful what I eat and how late I eat in the evening or I get really bad acid reflux at night and end up not being able to sleep. I would say I am still enjoying the experience even though I am definitely getting more uncomfortable.

PIME still manages to move like a champ even though I am sure space it getting tight :) Jesse and I both enjoy kind of poking at my stomach where PIME so that PIME will kick/push back. Kind of makes me think if backward tug of war :)
